Pre-op/Post-op Care (PACU) Registered Nurse PRN
The Pre-op/PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the facility.
Tracks and facilitates employee health activities.

Degree of Supervision Provided to Position:
Medium, must be self-directed and works under direction of the Clinical Leader
Provide direct clinical patient care to surgical patients in the preoperative and postoperative care areas
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission and discharge
Responsibilities include but not limited to preoperative phone calls, preoperative admission assessment, IV start, PACU recovery, and discharge of patient
Prepares clinical area for patients (assuring all supplies and equipment is available)
Ability to communicate well with patients, families, Teammates, physicians, other members of the healthcare team, etc.
Assesses, plans, evaluates, and ensures the implementation of the patient s care to achieve identified outcomes and deliver safe patient care according to facility policy and procedure
Displays an understanding of each patient s cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturity in the assessments, treatment, and care undertaken based on age-specific criteria
Assesses, plans, and evaluates the nursing care needs of patients in the immediate
Provides comfort and support for post-operative patients
Evaluates responses to treatments and interventions and manages patient s pain
Coordinates nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge
Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position in post-anesthesia patient care duties
Accurate and legible documentation in the medical record
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Texas
1- 2 years Pre-op and PACU experience preferred
ACLS, PALS, BLS required
Ambulatory Surgery experience strongly preferred
Must be personable, friendly, and exhibit flexibility and positive interpersonal skills with excellent communication skills
